ABOUT THE MARKET
The People's Open Market (POM) were started to assist farmers with selling their "off-grade", "ungraded" and surplus produce and at the same time help lower food costs for the citizens of Honolulu. At the POM, you will find many kinds of ethnic fruits, vegetables and other food items that are not ordinarily available in grocery stores. Depending on the ethnic make-up of the neighborhood, you will find different varieties at different sites.
To get to the Mānoa POM, drive mauka (towards the mountain) on Punahou Street which will later turn into Mānoa Road. Keep going until there is a fork in the road and stay left on Mānoa Road. When you get to the 5 way intersection, take a slight right to stay on Mānoa Road. Turn right into the driveway between Mānoa Elementary School and Mānoa Valley District Park. The market will be on the right in the upper parking lot. Please note that although the actual park address is 2721 Kaʻaipū Avenue, the market is located in the parking lot off of Mānoa Road. It would be wise to bring an umbrella and a flashlight during the winter months.
